Rat Czar is a comedy web series written by Maggie Scudder.
Production on Rat Czar’s five episodes begins in June 2024, to be released in Fall 2024.
Ana Bretón, a four-time Emmy nominee, will direct the series. In the meantime, Maggie and Ana are co-developing and producing this project, with Maggie serving as Showrunner.
LOGLINE: New York City’s newly appointed Rat Czar must unite her staff in a struggle against bureaucracy and the rats, which outnumber them a million to one.
EPISODE LOGLINES:
PILOT, INTEREST GROUPS: Immediately after being appointed, the Rat Czar’s office is thrust into chaos when the Mayor leaks her information to opposing interest groups all over the city.
RAT BIRTH CONTROL: Trying to slow their growing population, Kathy and her team deposit rat birth control all over New York. Unfortunately, the city’s teens discover this plan and try to use the rat birth control as their own.
KNOW THY ENEMY: To better understand the rat population, Kathy goes undercover as a rat. Meanwhile, her staff must respond to a crisis without her when a roach infestation is discovered.
GOING VIRAL: After going viral for another embarrassing mistake, Kathy puts a halt on all hijinks. Her staff bands together and brings in an unconventional influencer to help cheer Kathy up at their prest-proof trashcan unveiling.
FINALE, RAT PRIDE: Kathy throws a block party to increase community awareness, but a surprise visit from the mayor throws the event into chaos.
